On March 15, Cyclone Idai smashed into the coast if Mozambique near the coastal city of Beira. It first devastated Beira and the surrounding areas before taking its deadly force further inland to Malawi and Zimbabwe. As it stands, the death toll is around a 1000 with thousands missing and many more in deadly risk of cholera and malaria outbreaks currently wreaking havoc on the impacted communities. #ConnectivityMatters: NetHope is opening up world of Connectivity for its partner NGOs and refugees in Northern Uganda

Connectivity influences every aspect of our daily routine; searching for news, updating statuses on social media, checking emails, and even tasks as simple as making a phone call or receiving a text message. Yet 49% of the world population still lacks access to the internet as of 2017, according to ITU (International Telecommunications Union). Amongst these marginalised areas include the West Nile region in Uganda which hosts the world’s largest refugee camp, Bidi Bidi.
